Grey above with black wings and a broad black mask reaching over the forehead; pinkish breast.

Open grassland or farmland mosaics with trees, sometimes orchards; prefers pasture with trees or tree lines for nesting.

Widespread from the Danube Delta to the high Subcarpathian hills.
