Identification

Medium-sized, fairly uniform brown eagle with paler upperwing coverts and a small white patch at the base of the primaries.

Habitat

Open deciduous, coniferous or mixed forest, especially edges and riparian woods close to farmland where it hunts.

Distribution

Breeds patchily across most of the country at low and medium altitudes, with higher densities inside the Carpathian arc.
