Identification

All white with a black bill, black legs and contrasting yellow feet. Long plumes on the head and back in breeding season.

Habitat

Wetlands with shallow water, still or flowing: lakes, marshes and river edges, with trees or shrubs nearby for nesting.

Distribution

Breeds patchily across the country in low-altitude wetlands.

Breeding
