Identification
Males are brown, grey and black-tipped on the wings with a pale head; females are dark brown with a creamy crown and throat.
Habitat
Wetlands with extensive reedbeds, though it also hunts over farmland, pastures and other open ground.
Distribution
Present across the country wherever wetlands occur, except in the mountains.
